Stuart
Katz, Aloha Team Classic Chairperson, introduced Angela Jerman, a young LPGA
touring professional. Angela was
one of the LPGA players that participated in the “Play with the Pro” event as
part of the Aloha Team Classic – 2008.
She is starting her 7th year on the LPGA.
She began playing competitive golf with a successful amateur career which
included
a pair of high school team state championships (1994, 1998) at Hardaway High
School in Columbus, Ga.
Angela won the 2001 Lady Gamecock Invitational while at the University of
Georgia, where she set the school’s all-time lowest stroke average. She was a
four-time All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) Team selection and was the 2002 SEC
Player of the Year. She was a member of the victorious 2002 U.S. Curtis Cup
Team, the same year she earned low amateur honors at the U.S. Women’s Open with
a tie for 51st.
Angela spoke
briefly and shared a couple of her experiences that stressed the importance of
education. Her positive outlook and
inspiration will be an asset for the Foundation.
She knows how important it is to give Maui’s youth the opportunity to
reach their potential and will wear the Foundation logo on tour with great
pride. Angela is a great example of
how important it is for us to all help our youth reach their potential.
Stuart Katz extended a warm thank you to the organizations that support the Aloha Team Classic as Supporters. He noted that the Foundation would not be able to hold it’s annual event were it not for the continued commitment they have made to helping Maui’s youth.
